Youth Engagement Intern
1 Minute Read
Our Canada Water Masterplan intern Bode Adeloye has successfully completed his internship with Soundings and Global Generation. Over the summer Bode, who lives in Canada Water, helped us to raise awareness and involve more local young people in the Canada Water Masterplan.
Bode attended many local summer festivals and school fetes, including the Rotherhithe Summer Festival, Silverlock Hall Fun Day and Peter Hills and St Johns summer school fetes. At the events, he completed street surveys to help us understand young peoples’ views on the future of Canada Water. He also helped conceptualise our Instagram Challenge competition, attended our Youth Ideas Workshop, and delivered a school assembly at Bacon’s College to talk to students about the masterplan. At Global Generation Bode helped the Generators to develop the ‘Paper Garden’.
Bode reported his findings directly to the full Canada Water Masterplan team at British Land, and has helped inform our youth engagement strategy going forward.
A presentation of his findings can be downloaded here.
“My role as Canada Water Masterplan Intern allowed me to develop various skills such as communication, planning, research and working in a team. Community events in the Canada Water Hub gave me a chance to discuss the future of the area with different people which was thrilling as I live in the area myself. The internship has given me the opportunity to work with British Land and I have managed to secure a two-year Digital Innovation Apprenticeship at British Land.”
