On-site works update: buttress wall landscaping and archaeological surveys
1 Minute Read
Buttress wall landscaping works (eastern end of Hothfield Place)
From 15 June for approximately five weeks, Galldris will be tidying up the buttress wall area and replacing the temporary metal fence (currently painted green) with a timber fence, as well as completing the cladding and brickwork on the buttress wall. The buttress wall was built last year to support and protect the new gas main that SGN is currently diverting in and around Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park.
The team’s welfare unit will be on Deal Porters Way with a small section of Deal Porters Way (above Hothfield Place) closed, with a temporary vehicle diversion in place in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park. The ramp connecting Hothfield Place to Deal Porters Way will remain open throughout the works.
Galldris will be working within Southwark Council’s permitted working hours: Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm, and Saturday between 9am and 2pm, as needed.
Archaeological surveys on Plot K1 on Roberts Close
Archaeological surveys are due to take place on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June on Plot K1 on Roberts Close. We had expected these works to take place in March, but due to COVID-19 they were rescheduled.
The Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) will be carrying out these surveys which will include drilling boreholes on Plot K1 on Roberts Close. The image below outlines the area that will be affected while the works are taking place.
There will be some noise while these works are undertaken due to the nature of the equipment used, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. MOLA will be complying with Southwark Council’s construction noise requirements and Health and Safety Executive guidance on noisy works. The work is expected to take place over two days only, within Southwark Council’s permitted working hours for a weekday (between 8am and 6pm).
All of the works mentioned above will strictly adhere to Government and industry guidance in relation to COVID-19, including working at social distance.
