Petrol station update
1 Minute Read
The Canada Water development is well underway. On Sunday (16th May) we will close the petrol station on Deal Porters Way at the western end of Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park. This will make way for the construction of Plot A2, which will include the new Southwark Council Leisure Centre.
The construction of the new petrol station, at the other end of the car park near Tesco and Redriff Road, is nearly complete – and is due to open on 2 June 2021. In the meantime, the nearest petrol station is the Shell garage on Southwark Park Road, the other side of Southwark Park.
From early June, demolition works will take place at the old petrol station. These are expected to take six to eight weeks. In accordance with Southwark Council’s guidelines, works will be a 2 hour on / 2 hour off basis. There will also be a number of other measures taken to minimise the impact of noise, dust and disruption to our neighbours and the people who work and shop in the area.
Over this period, other site preparation works will also take place. These include reducing surface levels, soil and material removal, and ground investigation works that involve digging trial pits and boreholes. The demolition is expected to finish by early-August with site preparation works continuing into late August.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience as we lay the foundations for the Canada Water development.
