#OurCanadaWater Competition – Winners Announced!
1 Minute Read
In March, we launched the #OurCanadaWater competition to encourage anyone living, working, shopping, or going to school in SE16 to tell us what Canada Water, Surrey Docks and Rotherhithe means to them.
We were overjoyed with the number of entries we received and were blown away with the quality of your submissions. From photography to poetry, capturing memories, drawings, and more.
The final three winners have now been decided…
The First Prize winner is Faisal Shuja, who submitted a recipe inspired by his mum’s love for cooking. These are some of the words Faisal shared with us:
“The inspiration behind entering the competition and sharing the recipe is the fact that my mother loves to cook different cuisines and [I] wanted to share this recipe, to allow others to see and experience food from a different culture.”
The Second Prize winner is Alison Clayburn, a retired writing tutor from Rotherhithe. Alison submitted a beautiful poem about Rotherhithe, called ‘Walking the Peninsula’.
The Third Prize winner is Emma Carr, a busy mum with a keen eye for photography. Emma submitted a lovely photo of a person teaching a toddler how to ride scooter by Stave Hill.
Congratulations Faisal, Alison and Emma. And a big thank you and well done to everyone who entered the competition and shared with us what Canada Water, Surrey Docks and Rotherhithe means to them.
Check out the #OurCanadaWater display at Surrey Quays (opposite the Tesco) to see some of the submissions! Keep an eye on our social media for more updates.
