Gas network diversion update: Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park and surrounding area
1 Minute Read
Following the recent pause due to Government guidance relating to COVID-19, SGN are now returning to resume the gas main diversion work which is ongoing in and around Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park. These works will be undertaken in strict adherence to Government and industry guidance, which includes working at social distance.
At this point in time, we expect all works associated with the gas main diversion to complete in Autumn 2020.
Work taking place between 11-15 May 2020
Contractor JDT Utilities, who are undertaking this work on SGN’s behalf, will have a small presence on site between 11 and 15 May 2020. JDT will be:
- Working within the current compound area in the unused car park at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre (adjacent to Surrey Quays Road), and on Deal Porters Way near the ramp down from the car park to Hothfield Place
- Moving plant and equipment to a storage area in the unused car park adjacent to Surrey Quays Road
- Removing the temporary vehicle diversion in the main car park at the Canada Water Dock end of the Shopping Centre and moving fencing from the work area in Hothfield Place
JDT Utilities are permitted to work Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm, and Saturdays between 9am-4pm. SGN have been asked by Southwark Council to work extended hours, including Saturdays, to assist in completing the gas main diversion as soon as possible.
Work taking place from the week beginning 18 May through to the end of June 2020
Subject to traffic management permits being granted by Southwark Council, SGN will move into the next phase of work week beginning 18 May 2020.
