Enabling works update: ground investigation surveys and tree maintenance works

Share this post:

We will shortly be carrying out further enabling works relating to the Canada Water Masterplan around Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. These include ground investigation surveys and tree works and are part of a programme of early works to enable the first phases of construction of the Canada Water Masterplan.

These enabling works are not dependent on the current planning application for the Canada Water Masterplan and will be granted through other consenting and approval processes with Southwark Council, as required.

Ground investigation surveys

From the week commencing 24th February through to 13th March, Galldris will be surveying an area close to the petrol filling station (marked in red on image one below). This includes digging trial holes and drilling boreholes to establish ground conditions. Access to the work area will be from Deal Porters Way.

Working hours will be Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm only. There will be some noise while this work is undertaken due to the nature of the equipment used. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Tree maintenance works

From the week commencing 24th February through to 6th March, works to some trees in and around the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre Car Park will take place including pollarding (removing branches, cutting back a tree to its trunk and stumps) and canopy reduction (removing some branches and cutting back to reduce the overall size of the canopy).

Approvals are sought through Southwark Council where appropriate, including any traffic management which may be required on Lower Road and Deal Porters Way near Surrey Quays Shopping Centre Car Park (south) to allow the tree surgeons to operate safely. Working hours will be Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm only.

Please see images one and two below for information on the locations. We have also updated our information pack available here.
