Enabling works update: archaeological investigation works

Share this post:

Investigation works are due to begin on site from Wednesday 11th March and are expected to complete on Friday 20th March 2020. The works will take place in the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park and on the Plot K1 site on Roberts Close.

Works and duration

The works will begin on Wednesday 11th March and are expected to complete on Friday 20th March 2020.

The Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) will be carrying out archaeological surveys which will include drilling boreholes in the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park and on the Plot K1 site on Roberts Close. There will be some noise while these works are undertaken due to the nature of the equipment used, with MOLA complying with Southwark Council’s construction noise requirements and Health and Safety Executive guidance on noisy works.

Working hours will be Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm. Minor traffic measures will be required in the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park, which will only affect a few individual car parking spaces that will be cordoned off.

The image below shows the areas that will be affected while these works take place.
