British Land: Half Year Results
1 Minute Read
Today, we (British Land) announced our Half Year 2018/19 Results. As referenced in the results, in May 2018 we submitted a detailed application for the first three buildings, as well as an outline planning application for the Canada Water Masterplan. In October 2018, we submitted a number of revisions to the application, as well as detailed proposals for an Interim Petrol Filling Station. Subject to planning approvals, construction of the first detailed plots could begin in 2019.
We started engaging on our Masterplan proposals in 2014 and since then have held over 120 public consultation and local outreach events. These have attracted over 11,000 people who provided 12,000 comments on our plans, enabling us to shape a design informed by the knowledge and experience of the community. We are a long term investor in the Canada Water area, and we are committed to working with the community to ensure that the Masterplan delivers a range of long-term benefits for those who live, work and visit here, both now and in the future.
The completed Masterplan will cover over 5 million sq ft, with 3,000 new homes alongside commercial, retail and community space. The first detailed submission that covers 1.9 million square feet includes residential, of which 35% will be affordable housing, as well as both workspace and a new leisure centre.
