Apply now for three vacancies as part of the preparatory works for the Canada Water Masterplan – no prior experience required

As mentioned in our previous Latest News piece, we said we would be sharing information on any upcoming vacancies and training opportunities that come forward as part of the Canada Water Masterplan construction works. It is one of our key aims that we provide training and employment opportunities for residents in the local area as well as the wider Southwark area.

Below are some of the latest roles which are now open for applications. Both the Groundwork and Banksman roles do not require any previous experience in construction as training will be given including a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card qualification.

Click on the links for each of vacancies below to find out more information about each role, including hours of work and the full job description. All Phase 1 construction roles at Canada Water will be paid at least the London Living Wage.

Groundworker – (deadline 30 October)

  • The role will require digging the ground, excavating, and concreting the foundations, and building the foundations. You will work with experienced tradesmen of a wide range of disciplines, as well as being supported by your Site Manager and the Site team. No previous experience in construction is required.

Banksman – (deadline 30 October)

  • You will be responsible for directing the movement and loading/unloading of vehicles and directing the movement of mobile plant. The Banksman will also control the movements of excavator or other mobile plant, by carefully monitoring the bucket for any obstructions and other vehicle movements and pedestrians. No previous experience in construction is required.

Site cleaner – (deadline 30 October)

  • Cleaner role at the construction site to take care of the facilities. This will include general cleaning duties such as emptying bins, mopping floors, cleaning office cabins and welfare facilities. You will have had previous cleaning experience and possess a can-do attitude.
