Come along to the Open Day and Jobs Fair at the Southwark Construction Skills Centre, 8 December 2021
To celebrate their official opening in Canada Water, the Southwark Construction Skills Centre is hosting an open day and jobs fair. The event will take place on Wednesday 8 December 2021 between 2.30pm – 4.30pm at the centre on Surrey Quays Road, SE16 7PJ – no need to book just drop in!
About the Southwark Construction Skills Centre
The Southwark Construction Skills Centre recently moved to Canada Water from Elephant & Castle, with the aim of increasing employment and training opportunities in the construction sector for local residents. The centre will act as a hub for information, training and advice for residents interested in construction as well as a centre for training provision for those already in work. It is a partnership between Southwark Council, Art Invest Real Estate, British Land and The Skills Centre who run the Centre.
As well as access to local job opportunities, the centre provides a variety of training courses – many of which are free of charge – for local people. These include: apprenticeships; National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs); short courses to meet project compliance or health and safety regulations; and pre-employability training.
They run regular free three-week (two-weeks in the classroom and one-week on site) Pre-Employment programmes designed to help inspire people looking to start a career in construction and provide you with the basic training and requirements for getting on site. The next courses start in January, to find out more click here.
About the Open Day and Jobs Fair
The event on Wednesday 8 December is open to all and is a drop in – no need to book. Whether you’re looking for a career in construction or simply curious about what the Southwark Construction Skills Centre can offer don’t hesitate to pop in to meet construction employers working in the area and find out about current vacancies and training opportunities.
There will be many career opportunities available across Canada Water and other developments in the borough, whether you’re looking for a hands-on role or a desk job. Our own construction contractors, including Keltbray, Mace, Wates, Galldris and McAleer&Rushe, will be there to talk with people about upcoming job and apprenticeship opportunities with them and their supply chains.
