Children embrace the spirit of Love Summer 2023

The autumn is rolling in, and Love Summer, our popular pop-up at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, has closed its doors for another year.

This year’s edition proved more popular than ever. Over 7,100 people visited the Plant Pavilion over the course of the summer, a 35% increase on last year’s daily number of visitors, with people coming down to enjoy games, arts and crafts, and wellbeing activities. The classes, hosted by local suppliers, welcomed 308 participants, and visitors also enjoyed the festival vibe with no less than 60 musical performances throughout the summer.

Love Summer 2023 featured two spaces for people to enjoy. The Summer Terrace hosted the very best of British summertime, with deck chairs, garden games and blankets for cooler evenings. The Plant Pavilion was a light and airy space that provided cover from some of the less-than-summery weather we had over the holiday period, where visitors took part in free art classes and terrarium-making workshops, unwound with yoga and Pilates and enjoyed live music, made and enjoyed cocktails and mocktails from the bar, and tucked into street food from local vendors.

Love Summer will return in July 2024. In the meantime, there’s still plenty going on that you can get involved with at Canada Water. Try your hand at wallball (a game a bit like squash without a racket) at the free-to-use courts next to Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. Or check out The Arch, the bouldering venue inside the shopping centre that’s open to all ages and abilities – visit www.archclimbingwall.com for further info.

More activities and events will be coming soon. Keep an eye on this website and our social media channels for news of what’s on.
