A new generation explores Canada Dock

Lights, camera, action! Hollywood came to Canada Water this month as pupils from Redriff Primary School and Michael Daniels, past President of the Rotherhithe and Bermondsey Local History Society, starred in our “Naming what’s new” film.

The three-minute feature explores the new names – Marker Way, Rafter Walk and Dock Office Gardens – while taking us on a tour of these new spaces. With pit-stops at the new 170m boardwalk and the Victorian-inspired Dock Office Gardens, the film digs into the history of the names and the dockers who called Surrey Docks home.

Hats off to the Year 5 and Year 6 students for their lively presenting style and their composed performances in front of the camera. And many thanks to Michael for giving up his time to talk viewers through the names.
