Planning application approved for buttress wall (brick box) at the eastern end of Hothfield Place to support gas main pipe diversion
1 Minute Read
British Land has recently received planning consent (case reference number 19/AP/0896) from Southwark Council to build a buttress wall (brick box) in the vegetated area behind the wooden fences at the very eastern end of Hothfield Place. This needs to be built to support and protect a new gas main pipeline that Southern Gas Network will be diverting through Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park, as it changes levels from the car park down onto Hothfield Place – more information can be found here.
Galldris will be constructing the buttress wall on behalf of British Land, with work beginning on 1 July and lasting around six weeks. Galldris will be working within Southwark Council’s permitted working hours: Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm, and Saturday between 9am and 2pm.
The work will be carried out from Deal Porters Way in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park, and managed from this level with equipment moved down to the work zone. A vehicle diversion will be available, and clearly marked, in the Shopping Centre car park for those using Deal Porters Way. Pedestrian access from Hothfield Place to Deal Porters Way will be maintained and there will be no changes to parking arrangements in Hothfield Place throughout the duration of these works.
