Southwark Cabinet considers the Council’s Head of Terms with British Land

Southwark Council’s Cabinet will meet this evening to consider a Heads of Terms document which will form the basis of an agreement between British Land and Southwark Council relating to the Canada Water Masterplan.

The Heads of Terms set out the broad terms of a contract between British Land and Southwark Council including the Council’s position on various elements of the masterplan. This will inform the masterplan development and the next stage of consultation.

The agreement covers the SE16 Printworks (formerly known as Harmsworth Quays), Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and Surrey Quays Leisure Park (also known as the Mast Leisure Park). The proposals for the Masterplan include a genuine blend of residential, commercial, retail, culture and leisure space, alongside new green spaces and higher educational provision. Here is a draft, sketch image of how some parts of the Canada Water Masterlan could look. These are working-progress ideas for discussion and debate through consultation over the coming months.

We have been working with the local community on the development of the Masterplan proposals since spring 2014. The next sessions will focus on emerging ideas and principles for key public spaces in the Canada Water Masterplan and will be held on 28 November and 9 December – please see below post for full details or download the flyer here.
